We hope to be fully relocated by July 1, at which point our normal activities (and therefore posts) will resume. Hope you'll come back then!
My apologies to anyone who follows us through our weekly activities, as my posts have been...non-existent?....the past two weeks. We are in the process of renovating a home and moving into it. Despite my best intentions to continue making time for our normal activities, we are truly in survival mode! Renovations, moving, and entertaining a toddler are all hard in their own right...put them together? Whew...perfect storm.
We hope to be fully relocated by July 1, at which point our normal activities (and therefore posts) will resume. Hope you'll come back then!

We were able to do some really fun dinosaur themed sensory play this week. These included playing with "fossil dough," dunking dinos in cornstarch and water "sticky mud," and hatching dinosaur (ice) eggs. Read on below for more info!
I was so excited for dinosaur week! T LOVES dinosaurs, so I couldn't wait to spend a whole week doing dinosaur themed activities. There is much more to come later in the week on sensory activities, crafts, and our weekly outing - but read more below to see what books we read and songs we sang all about dinosaurs!
Books About SportsI was really surprised that it was difficult to find books appropriate for a toddler that focused on sports. Maybe I just wasn't using the right search terms, or maybe my library had a poor selection on this topic. This is something I will have an eye out for in the future. We read three books this week about sports. One was On the Ball by Brian Pinkney, which feature somewhat abstract art and storytelling but focused on imagination and finding your natural ability when you just focus (which I think is a good message beyond sports). Another was an Elmo's World lift the flap book, Balls!. This book paired well with our ball sensory bin and was clearly designed with toddlers in mind. We also read a book by Aimee Aryal called Hello, Phillie Phanatic! (as the Phillies are my favorite baseball team), which follows the Phillie Phanatic through the ballpark, talking about the sights and sounds he encounters. The book is an official MLB product and, as such, can be purchased focusing on any MLB team mascot/ballpark - so if the Phillies aren't your team, you can likely find a book for whoever you root for! Songs About SportsOther than "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," I had a hard time finding songs I could really sing with my toddler. But what I did find were a lot of mainstream songs associated with sports. We listened to them, danced with them, and played instruments along with them all week. "We Will Rock You" is T's new favorite song!
Planning activities around a sports theme turned out to be more challenging than I expected. I found lots of ideas that focused on counting, sorting, patterns, and more that just weren't age appropriate for a young toddler. And maybe I just didn't know the right place to look, but books and songs were hard to come by as well. So, I made do with what I could find, and adapted some general activities to involve sports. You can read more about our activities this week below.
